Janet then made a motion to approve the 3/13/17 board minutes and the treasurer’s report as noted below. Phil seconded, minutes & treasurer’s report approved.

Garage Sale: May 4-6 Phil updated the board that everything is on track and that the deadline is officially today for applications and as of the meeting there were 32 but Phil expects a few more to trickle in. Last year we had 37. Phil will be distributing maps to local businesses and they can also be picked up at the Albion New Era. Chris mentioned that she has been approached with requests to make the application more of an online process (vs snail mail). For next year we will look into having an email on the form for individuals to be able to scan and email their forms in. We will continue to have the form accessible through the Chamber website.
Goodwill Truck: May 13 (9am-noon)Tammy has the schedule filled for help with the Goodwill Truck. Janet and Phil will help from 9-10am, Chris and Sharon will help from 10-11am, and Sandy and Ken will help from 11-noon. Thank you to the board members willing to help with this.Town wide Clean-up: May 13 please note that though not a Chamber project, the town wide clean-up will also be occurring on May 13th and that of special note is that there will be NO curbside pick-up for electronics, but that the Town Hall will accept electronics drop off from 8am-noon as long as you can show proof of Albion residency.
Quarterly High Impact Meeting: May 16 (5:30-7:30) Invitations will go out via email blast later this month to all Albion Chamber Members for this event being held at the Noble County Public Library. The board has decided NOT to charge for this event, but members will need to RSVP so that we know how much food to prepare and to encourage commitment of participation. Those members in the food and hospitality industry who would like to donate finger food for approximately 15-20 people and advertise their business at this event should email Sandy at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 20th. If you haven’t been to the library lately and seen all the changes and services that might benefit your business or organization, this is an excellent opportunity not to be missed.
Donation press photos: “Big check” photos were taken at the board meeting for the donation to KiPS and the Chain O Lakes festival to submit to the paper for publicity on things the Chamber is involved with.
Citizen of the Year: Sandy has completed and will submit today the Chamber’s nomination for Rotary’s annual Citizen of the Year award.
Albion is an HCI finalist: The Chambers letter of support was submitted to the town and Albion is a semi-finalist as an HCI project. A meeting will be held tomorrow at the Town Hall at 1pm with the State HCI representatives from Indianapolis to make our final case of why we should be chosen.
Noble County Chamber - SCORE event (A Taste of Business) on May 17th. Chris shared that many things about this event have not been finalized, but she is hoping to find out more information at the next county chamber meeting and will hopefully have more to share with our own Albion Chamber members about this.
Flag program: Ken was not at meeting today but Chris said the program was well underway. Anyone wanting to sponsor a veteran or military member for one of the flags to go up in Albion can contact Ken Cripe at Cripe Chiropractic in Albion 636-7959 or email@example.com
Chamber Directory: Chris and Carla are helping Kay out with this year’s directory. Chris negotiated better pricing with the Albion New Era and did much of the composition work herself to save us money (Thank You Chris!). We will only be getting 2,250 directories this year versus the 2,500 we normally get because we had at least 250 left over this year. We are planning to use a photo of the new mural in Albion on the cover. Since this is a copyrighted image of the STAR team, Tammy will confirm that this is not an issue, which she does not expect it to be.
Christmas in Village: Tammy shared that with this event growing, a committee has been put together of Tammy & Kay from the Chamber and Shelli McBride, Tiffany Lower, and Stefen Wynn to better coordinate all of the aspects. Chris shared a suggestion by John Moorehouse to possibly have a contest for an enlarged “Christmas Card” to be displayed on the courthouse lawn similar to what other communities have done. Tammy will discuss this with the committee.
May 13th: Town clean-up (curbside at 6 am) and Goodwill truck 8-12 pm (across from Post Office)
Town Hall accepting electronics at no charge with proof of address 8-12 pm
May 16th: Member meeting at the Noble County Public Library at 5:30 pm - ALL Albion Chamber members are highly encouraged to attend to learn more about resources and tools available to your business or organization.
May 17th: A Taste of Business event sponsored by the Noble County Chamber organizations to be held at Sylvan Cellars at 5:30 pm
Phil made a motion to adjourn, Chris seconded. Meeting adjourned at 1:00 pm.
