Water System:

Albion is provided water by a municipal water system. Its source is from two wells, one of 106 feet and the other of 141 feet drills into gravel beds. The combined pumping capacity is 1000 gallons per minute. A 300,000 gallon elevated storage tank floats on the system and maintains

62 pounds of pressure on the distribution mains at the pump station. The schedule of water rates, based on a monthly metered basis, is available from local community offices.

Sewer System:

Sewer system service is supplied by the town of Albion. The system is comprised of waste stabilization ponds, interceptor sewers, and sanitary sewer tanks to all areas of the town. For further information and the schedule of monthly rates, contact the Town Hall of Albion.

Telephone System:

Verizon supplies telephone service to the town of Albion. Telephone service is available to every part of the community including industrial locations where truck lines would be available to industry. Long distance lines tying into major cities provide adequate telephone service to all parts of the United States. www.verizon.com

Gas Service:

Natural gas is supplied to Albion by the Northern Indiana Fuel and Light Company with the general offices located in Auburn, Indiana. The gas is supplied from a main line of the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company and contains about 1,000 BTU per cubic foot. For further information contact:

The American Electric Power (AEP) services the Albion community, and is a subsidiary of the American Electric Power Company. A double circuit 138,000 volt transmission line delivers energy to the Albion substation. Here the voltage is reduced to 12 KU for delivery to Albion. Noble Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) serves electricity to the expanding areas of the Town of Albion as well as rural areas of the Albion Community. Noble REMC is a local not-for-profit cooperative electric utility company founded in 1936. They are governed by a 12-person board of directors and are locally owned by their customers who are member/owners of the business. Government and Taxes

Civic Administration

The town of Albion has a Town Manager and a Town Council composed of three members. The Council President is elected by the council members annually. The council meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.

Town Clerk/Treasurer

The Clerk's Office in the Albion Town Municipal Building is at 211 E Park Drive. Hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The phone number is (260) 636-2246 and fax number is (260) 636-2821.

Police Protection

Police protection services for the Town of Albion consist of six full-time officers, five part- time officers and ten reserves. The police station is located at 110 South Orange Street. The phone number is (260) 636-7157 or 911 for emergencies.

Fire Protection

Fire protection is provided to the community by 35 volunteer firemen utilizing three pumpers, two tanker trucks, two grass trucks, a heavy rescue unit and a medical response unit. In addition, Albion is served by a local emergency medical first responders unit.
